Things To Do In Winter

Morzine and the surrounding area is a beautiful winter destination in France offering plenty of activities to enjoy. Here are some things you can do here during the winter season:

Skiing and Snowboarding: Porter du Soleil is one of the top destinations in France for skiing and snowboarding. The resort offers over 120 ski runs and 200km of slopes, which cater to skiers and snowboarders of all levels. There are several ski schools in Saint Jean D’Aulps, Avoriazn Morzine and Les Gets that offer lessons for beginners as well as guided tours for experienced skiers. The Portes du Soleil ski area, which is easily accessible from the Chalet, offers over 650km of slopes, and you can purchase a ski pass to access the entire ski area.

Ski and board hire:

Ice Skating: The outdoor ice rink in Morzine is open from mid-December to early March and is a great way to spend an afternoon with your friends or family. The rink is located in the town centre where you can rent skates for a small fee. The rink is also illuminated at night, which makes for a magical experience.

Snowshoeing: Snowshoeing is a great way to explore the winter scenery. You can book a guided tour and trek through snow-covered forests and mountains, enjoying the fresh mountain air and stunning views. There are several routes to choose from, ranging from easy to more challenging, so you can find the right one for your fitness level.

Sledging: Sledging is a popular activity and is fun for all ages. There are several sledging areas in the town, including the Pléney sledging area, which offers a 3km-long track. You can rent sledges at the bottom of the track and enjoy the ride down. There are also dedicated sledging areas for children.

Paragliding: Paragliding is a thrilling activity that lets you soar through the air and enjoy the stunning views from above. You can book a tandem paragliding tour and fly with an experienced pilot. The take-off point is located on the top of a mountain, which is accessed by a chairlift or cable car.

Hot Air Balloon Rides And Helicopter Rides: Hot air balloon and helicopter rides offer a unique perspective of the winter landscapes in Morzine. You can book a tour and witness the snow-covered mountains, forests, and valleys from above. The tour lasts for around an hour, and you can enjoy a glass of champagne after the flight.

Snowmobiling: Snowmobiling is a thrilling activity that lets you ride through the snow-covered terrain at high speeds. You can book a guided tour and ride through the forests and mountains, enjoying the adrenaline rush and stunning scenery. The tours typically last for around two hours.

Relax in a Spa: After a long day of skiing or other winter activities, you can treat yourself to a spa day in Morzine. There are several spas in the town that offer a range of treatments, including massages, facials, and body wraps. You can also enjoy the sauna, steam room, and Jacuzzi facilities. Some will also come to the Chalet for in-house pampering!

Visit the Village: There are a number of charming village that are worth exploring including Avoriaz, Les Gets and Morzine. You can stroll through the narrow streets, admire the traditional architecture, and visit the local shops, cafes and restaurants. There are also several cultural and historical sites to see, such as the Église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine and the Museum of Mechanical Music in Les Gets.
